| Lhasa-Namtso Lake-Lhasa-Yamdrok Lake-Gyantse-Shigatse-Lhasa-Xining
Fly from Chengdu/ Kunming/ Shanghai/ Xining/ Xian to Lhasa. Day 1: Arrive Lhasa Arrive in Lhasa. A city with a history of 1300 years. Have a good rest for the rest of the day and allow yourself to acclimatize to the 3650M high altitude. Day 2: Lhasa/ Potala Palace/ Jokhang Monastery/ Barkor Street In the morning, visit the famous Potala palace, the landmark of lhasa, a structure that deserves a place as one of the wonders of eastern architecture. In the afternoon, visit Jokhang Temple known as the most revered religious structure in Tibet, and the surrounding area of Barkor which is Lhasa"s pilgrimage circuit. This area is both the spiritual heart of Lhasa and the main commercial district for Tibetans. Overnight in Lhasa. Day 3: Norbulingka Monastery/ Sera Monastery/ Tibet Museum In the morning, visit Norbulingka Monastery. In the afternoon, explore Sera monastery which was founded in 1419 by Tsongkapa"s disciple Jamchen Choeje. The monastery is divided into two colleges, there are Sera “jhe” and Sera “may” respectively. Monks from both colleges assemble and pray at Tsokhang chenmo. You can also see monks debating in the courtyard at around 4 to 5:30 pm. End the day”s sightseeing with a visit to Tibet Museum. Day 4: Lhasa/ Namtso Lake/ Yangpachen/ Lhasa Excursion to Namtso Lake via Yangpachen hot spring. On the way you will see Nyenchen Thanglha snow-capped mountain range (average height is 5300m), and you will pass the Nagela Pass. Namtso Lake is the sky lake which is one of the three holy lakes, and also the highest salt lake. You can do a bit trekking at the lake side. On the way back, you will have an opportunity for a hot-spring bath at Yangpachen. Overnight in Lhasa. Day 5: Lhasa/ Lake Yamdrok/ Gyantse/ Kumbum Monastery/ Shigatse In the morning, drive 110km to Lake Yamdrok (Yamdroktso), another one of the three holy lakes of Tibet. It"s winding road all up to the mountain, bumpy and somewhat thrilling. After passing over the Kambala pass of 5030m, the gorgeous lake is finally within sight. Seen from the summit of Kambala pass, the lake is a fabulous shade of deep turquoise. After descending from the mountain, there is about 30km long road along the lake, with barley fields on the other side of the road. Leaving Yamdroktso is as spectacular as arriving, since you"ll cross the 5045m Karola, with its awesome roadside views of the Nojin Kangtsang Glacier. In the late afternoon, you"ll arrive in Gyantse and visit Kumbum Monastery. Day 6: Shigatse/ Tashilunpo Monastery/ Norbulingka Summer Palace/ Lhasa In the morning, drive to Shigatse, visit the residence of Panchen Lama at Tashilunpo Monastery. After visiting this magnificent monastery, have lunch and then drive back to Lhasa along the Yarlong Tsangpo River. Visit Norbulingka Summer Palace on the way to Lhasa. Overnight in Lhasa. Day 7: Lhasa / Xining You will board the Tibet-Qinghai train to Xining, the world”s highest railway linking Tibet to the rest of China. The route you will cover is Lhasa - Damxung - Nagqu - Amdo - Tuotuo River - Gelmud - Xining. (The meals on the train will be covered by yourself). After 20 hrs of traveling, you will arrive in Xining. Day 8: Arrive in Xining You may choose to visit Grand Dongguan Mosque on your own time and arrangement, one of the biggest mosque in Northwest China. Otherwise, you may go directly to the airport for your pre-arranged flight transfer. Included in tour prices: 1.
